Frequently Asked Boat Tour Questions

What is the best time to see dolphin?

ANYTIME!! With 200-400 local dolphins(year round) we always find them. Although, we always recommend the earliest trip of the day and the soonest day ya’ll can come. The early trips the winds are lower and animals are moving so it’s BEAUTIFUL! The soonest day in your trip so that we may reschedule if weather is an issue.

What if the weather looks bad?

We recommend never looking at the weather, thats what the weather channel wants…stressed out;-). Weather changes very quickly here, so come prepared and ya’ll will have a blast. We will make a decision about the weather, at the time of the trip. Often just waiting in the car a few minutes and that allows the weather to blow right over.

Why are you listed as “The Best thing to do in Hilton Head”

We strive to be the best that we can on every trip. If you ever have a boat tour with us, that is less than a 5 star experience, text or call us and we will make it right.

May we get off the boat to swim?

Unfortunately no. Thats a safety issue that insurance won’t cover.

Do you offer military discount?

Yes. Call or text us and we will book your trip for you, and get you that discount.

Are all of the guides captains?

Yes. All of our boat operators are USCG captains and ready to show you the best time! Some are even Masters with up to 100 Ton.

What happens if we don’t see dolphin?

Well, this has only happened a handful of times in nearly 20 years of business, but if it does, we will take your party back out at another time. on us!

How early should I arrive?

We recommend a minimum of 15min before your tour starts, so you may go to bathroom, put on sunblock and get to the end of the wooden pier 5min before your tour starts.

Are all of your 5 star reviews real?

Yes, unlike many companies, we do not screen our reviews to make sure only the good ones get through. We love what we do and do this for a living. After living here for so long, our guides can take you to spots that they love and know well. Being with knowledgable guides makes a difference so you have the best experience possible.

Where are you located?

The address is 18 Simmons Road, Hilton Head, SC 29926. Once you turn on Simmons, take the first right, park and walk to the end of the wooden pier. We will meet you there at time of tour.

Will I get wet on the boat?

Firstly, we do our best to keep you dry. Although, wind and waves can be expected so there may be splashing water. Don’t bring that laptop! If you are getting out for a beach comber or similar you may get wet up to your hips.

What should we bring on our tour?

First off being prepared always makes for the best tour. Bring sunglasses, hat, sunblock (put on before boarding boat), raincoat and water. If colder season, expect it to feel 10 degrees colder on the water. Jackets and blankets are a good idea. To sum it up, bring what feels right.

Is there shade on the boat?

Yes. We have 8ft bimini tops or t-tops on every boat. Shade does move though and we recommend hats and sunglasses. Fishing charters are an exception and will have shade, but may a little less.

May we bring drinks and snacks?

YES! Bring what you like to have a great time and we will have cooler is supplied on board. Please, no glass or red wine. Don’t forget, we can supply snacks and drinks if you like.

Do you offer drinks or snacks?

Certainly!! We have a Better Boating Package add-on, and our Dolphins, Sharks & Shells comes with it!
Better Boating Package includes:
👍🏼 Drinks – Sparkling Water, Flat Water and Kids Drinks, 👍🏼 Snackle-Box full of Light Snacks, Like Bars and Nuts, 👍🏼 Koozies – Free to take home, 👍🏼 Sunblock, 👍🏼 Bug Spray , 👍🏼 Rain Jackets, 👍🏼 Blankets in Colder Months

How do you guarantee dolphin sightings?

Above all…it’s our guides(captains) that have been on the water a long time. They know where to find the dolphin depending on tides and historical data.

What is the difference between a “Shared” and “Private” tour?

Private boats are is for your group only. Shared boats may have 2 or 3 groups, totaling up to 6 people per boat, never more.

What if I have more than 6 in my party?

NO PROBLEM! We have plenty of options including multiple boat tours (my favorite) or “Boat Rental w/ Captain”. Give us a call and we can set you up. Or look HERE…

How many guests per boat?

First off, we take a max of 6 people per tour on our specified Private and Shared Boats. Other boat companies often take 30 or even 50 people at a time. No crowds here!
If you have more than 6 guests, checkout our other options HERE. We offer discounts on 2 boats and have a rental option with a captain, which allows more guests.

What type of boats do you use?

For most of our trips we use 22ft Carolina Skiffs. These boats are designed for shallow water to get you close to the wildlife. We do have other boats that are used for specialty tours and/or larger parties.

What happens if we get rained out?

If we cannot take you out at your scheduled time(which doesn’t happen often), we will either reschedule or fully refund. It’s totally up to you. We get most tours out, even if we have to adjust a few minutes here or there. Remember, we will make the decision at the time of the trip and not before. DON”T LOOK AT THE WEATHER…it’s always wrong.

Are tours suitable for children?

Yes! We are fun and safe for everyone. We provide life jackets for all children under 12 years old, or anyone that wants to wear one. Either way, we have them onboard.

Are you handicap accessible?

Our boats have 2 steps, from the dock down that are each about 10″. Have have helped those with new knees and walkers onboard. There is a long pier to get to the boats, if you need a golf cart ride, before 5pm, please call in advance and we will handle it for you.

Can we book a boat tour last minute?

Yes, at times. We recommend calling as soon as you can BUT, we do allow booking on our website up to an hour before. If there are seats open, you may book right up until time of tour. If the bookings are closed, give us a all and we will see what we can.

  • ‘We had an excellent evening cruise with our Captain. He was so patient with my daughter who was very nervous, and took the entire evening completely at her pace. It was absolutely worth it to book a private cruise’

  • ‘Capt. Heath was wonderful! Super easy going, funny, and knowledgeable about the area, wildlife, and other goings-on of the island. I was particularly grateful for his laidback approach with our two year old’
